French Country Step Card

Here is another step card, this time using Graphic 45's French Country paper.

Little bit of fussy cutting on this step card. I used Crackle accents and Distress ink on the rooster piece. A little string of pearls near the bottom, an SU framelit die for the Close to My Heart sentiment, small bit of background paper--Basic Grey, Little Black Dress.  Card base is SU and a wee ribbon from my stash.

Just a little strip of sunflowers for the back.  Enough room on the back for writing.
This card could be for a birthday, accomplishment, or retirement.

Thanks for coming to have a look :)

Ice Sculptures in Fort St. John

While on holidays just recently, we took a trip to Fort St. John, British Columbia, to see some ice sculptures that had been carved a week or so before at the Winter Festival.  As you can see, it was a gorgeous day!

My favourite, the Buddha, stands about 10 feet tall.

The Maple leaf was about 4 feet tall.

Below is a great ice slide being totally enjoyed by kids at the park :)

Below is a life size cat.

Quite a few statues were 3 to 5 feet tall.

The arms and hands below were about 16-18 inches tall.  You could sit in this sculpture--on the other side.

The statues on bases like above and below, were about 3-4 feet tall.

Very mild day, but I can tell you, I was pretty chilled after walking all this ice :)

Thanks for stopping by, have a great weekend!

Little Darlings Step Card

Trying to use up this paper by Graphic 45. I have really gotten my use out of an 8x8 pad---I think there's enough to make another card or a couple of tags :)

Also trying to use up some of the step-card bases I cut out the other day.

This style tends to not stand up properly so I usually put a paper or ribbon under it to help--haven't done it yet on this one, so you can see it's 'spread' a bit.
I used SU Whisper White cardstock and edged everything in Tumbled Glass Distress Ink.  I did a wee bit of fussy cutting and used the edge scissors for the 'stamp' look.

A side view.

I put a bit on the back too but no sentiment...yet :)

Thanks for coming to look--please be sure to check out my face book page for everything in one place.....or my Pinterest page  :)

February Tag 2014

Here is my take on Tim's tag for this month. I don't have all the supplies :) but you gotta use what you have, right?

I used an embossing folder with hearts, rubbed the distress pad over it, then added embossing powder. I don't have chalk but took the sanding block over the white, embossed sentiment--got a little carried away sanding :)  bit of a messy chalkboard look.
I put some gesso around the black cardstock and inked around it.
The heart is on grunge board. I stuck the arrow onto it while wet and put a heart gem in the center. The sticker things on top and bottom are from my stash, they are a black glitter on acetate.

Thanks for coming to look :)

Just realized I didn't post Januarys tag, so here it is!

Lace, Pearls, and Crocheted Embellishments

Both of these cards are 'fashioned' after ones I saw on pinterest.  You can find them on blogspots called Ashatanka ( http://ashatanka.blogspot.ca/2011/10/2.html) and litenpus (http://litenpus.blogspot.ca/2011/09/juhuu-endelig-et-nytt-kort.html).

I added lace and a Bo Bunny metal tag. I believe the pearl butterfly was Prima-I cut some of the 'tail' off to add it to the inside.

Inside, just a little decorating.

The crocheted flower, leaves, and edging were made by me :)

Thanks for coming to look  :)
Have a great day!

Two 'Step' Cards

Sounds like a dance  :)  and it is.....kind of, with paper!  It's been a busy week.

Thanks to the Ladies who came out in very cold weather (-28) for the card class. We made a folded card using the French Country paper from Graphic 45---I'm always so surprised at how much you can make from one 12 by 12 paper pad.  I've done cards, a picture frame, a card class and still have a mini album, tag album and more cards to make with it!

Anyway, here are the two step cards that I also did this past week.

Both were made using Stampin Up cardstock and Graphic 45 paper.
The first one is a side-step style.  I did some fussy cutting of the birds and flowers and put SU crystal effects on the lantern. The back is decorated a bit and has space for writing a sentiment.

This next one is a center-step card done in the same paper. Thanks Bev for the idea of something on that corner :)  This card also is decorated a bit on the back with space for writing.

Thanks for coming to look :)

Bird Song Card

Here's my latest efforts using that gorgeous Asian inspired paper from Graphic 45!

I have wanted to try this design for a while and it SO fits this paper--don't you think?  I got the idea from Heartfelt Creations--check their card gallery, about two or three pages in, it's called a multifold.

The base is about 5 3/4 by 12 inches.  I've seen this in a couple of places and one person made a lovely sleeve to cover the whole card---because it tends not to stay closed :)  The printed paper....I measured every piece to fit.

The lanterns are cut out, coated with crystal effects and hung on strings. The tassel is hung from two coins I had in my stash.

The back has space for writing.  I wasn't sure if I wanted to put a 'label' on it but if someone wanted a sentiment, it wouldn't take long to stamp :)

Here it is at an angle (without glare from the window).  The two orangey coloured lanterns are raised on pop-dots.

Thanks so much for coming by :)
Pretty chilly here....a good day for paper crafting!
