Lovely but frosty Tuesday

Good morning bloggers :) It's a tea-Tuesday for some of you but I started the morning with hot lemon water and now having a cup of coffee with flavoured cream.  Not sure how that came about, I used to like my tea and coffee without anything in it!

Winter seems to turn me into a fibre and fabric crafter and not so much the paper crafter!  Here are a few of the things I've been doing.  If you would like to see more please visit my paper crafter page---you'll find the link on the sidebar :)

The set of three crocheted baskets--the smallest one is a free pattern from The Slanted Life blog and the other two are my own design.

The three toques below are pure wool.  These three aren't lined but I did make two others at Christmas, with lining.  I put the word out on our buy and sell face book page for White Buffalo yarn and was given and bought a bunch, so was busy all winter knitting!

This doll--she's about 18"-- started years ago, just got finished.  There is a smaller version that was also started---I hope to have her done soon!

A fleece jacket that I added lining to, except the hood.  I also added zippers to the two lower pockets and cuffs to the sleeves.

It's definitely Spring here.  The grass is green and the daffodils and tulips are up, but the trees are just getting buds. I'm hoping to get gardening soon.  This year I'm adding a little fairy garden and will be adding one indoors as well.  I'll be sure to add photos--hopefully in May :)

Have a wonderful week :)

Tea Tuesday

Didn't really get any paper projects done this past week, but I did get my picture frame glued and ready for some photos :) or at least I think I going to add photos, I kind of like the look as is.

I used a piece of 12" x 12" cardstock, SU Sage Shadow, for the backing and swiped it with some Distress paint, Picket Fence as well as the SU Cool Caribbean ink pad.

and another blanket done :)

Sitting here resting after yard work and sipping a lovely cup of double bergamot, earl grey, black tea--lovely aroma.  I'm going to slice up that orange in a minute and enjoy that too :)

Also picked a couple of flowers for the table outside.  Not much blooming, I love the darker lilac (lost the name), it has a very pleasant scent, not like the regular lilacs.  I filled the jar half full of rocks so it doesn't blow over :)

That's it for me on this lovely Tuesday :)
Join the others for tea, etc. you'll find the list over at Elizabeth's blog:

Have a great day and thanks for popping by :)

Happy Tea Tuesday

I'm back from a short trip up to Chetwynd, BC :) visiting family.

Travelling usually means that you stop to pick up a beverage and I don't always take my own thermos cup along. I find that the take-out cups are darn hot and I usually need two sleeves on my cup!  So when I got home, I thought I'd make my own--because I can just toss it in my purse--just in case :)

I chose this really cute cotton fabric, fused some insulating fabric inside and sewed up all edges, added two strips of Velcro to the ends and voila--my wrap :)
I didn't have the measurements of all the cup sizes you can get, but this one fits my Splitcoast mug from top to bottom, so it should work!  This one is the same width as the cardboard ones, but IF I made another one, I think I'd make it slightly wider.

Today, I'm drinking a really tasty tea from Epicure and I would recommend it to anyone who likes a citrus flavor--hot or cold :)

Ingredients.

And if you would like to spruce it up a bit, here's a recipe for you to try!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful day :)

Shabby Chic Photo Book

I just love making these shabby chic books and things using fabric and lace!  I use my glue gun and sometimes a little stitch or two.  This particular book is approximately 6" by 6" (closed).  I've used a combination of old and new materials.

The front: you can't really see but there is a piece of lace with velvet, moss coloured, ribbon down the spine; there's an elastic/organza closure that comes from the back forward, over the button; the crochet flowers on the front are made by me.

Below:  The lace on top and bottom form pockets and can be used to hold your photos in place.
The pages of this book are made from lovely, old, table napkins that I picked up at the Lions' garage sale the other weekend :)

Below:  I cut a doily in half and glued it over these center pages, thus creating a pocket on each side. I glued some pearls and 'leaf' ribbon onto the doily.

In the photo below, the wide lace can hold more photos :)
This gorgeous lace was on a long table runner and I bought it specifically to cut the lace off for my projects. It was $15 and I have almost 12 yards of 4" awesomeness!

The back has the same button as the front.  The elastic/organza ribbon is glued on to this side.  The pretty lace that is at the top and bottom is from Walmart and I think I may have to buy some more.

Thanks for coming to visit, be sure to check out my facebook page :)

Happy Tea Tuesday

Tuesday or any day is good for tea :) even so, I start my day off with a couple of cups of coffee!

I saw this gorgeous picture on Pinterest but the link didn't lead anywhere unfortunately.  But, I had to share it because it was just too beautiful!

This would have to be on display all the time, if it were mine :)

I just finished my 7th blanket this year and there were more before Christmas---fleece is so nice to work with!   As soon as you feel it, you just want to snuggle down into it!

This one is for my Grandson, River.  Check my Paper Crafting, face book page to see the other the other blankets and all the 'stuff' I've been up to  :)

Happy tea day ! Check out some other tea drinkers here, at  Elizabeth's page

Happy Saturday Everyone :)
I've stayed in till just now and thought I'd better go clean up the wee bit of snow/frost from my porch.  Cleaned off the car too.  Still -17 out there, so I can say I got some fresh air  :)

I did a double batch of shortbread today and some sewing.....well, not sure you can call it sewing when you just pin, trim, clip and tie two pieces of fleece together.  But it's close!

This plaid one, 60" wide by 2m long, is pinned and ready to tie.  The plain side is actually black.
See that sunshine--gorgeous day!

The kitten one is a single piece, all ready to get wrapped. It's 60" by 60".

That's my day  :)
Thanks for stopping by!

Finished My Purse

Here's the purse I have been working on this past few days~finished up yesterday  :)

The pattern kind of confused me at first, but once I got sewing on it, things made sense.  There's a pocket at each end on the outside.  Looking at it from the front, it is about 9" tall and 9"wide at the base.

  The zipper opening is 15".

There's velcro to hold the two ends in place.

Side view.

Below is another beautiful digi image from Crafts and Me Stamps.
get
I lightly used SU! Cool Caribbean and Apricot Appeal ink and the cloud template from SU! for the sky and moon. Iridescent Copper acrylic from Golden, Peeled
Paint distress ink, Fiskars punch~which I cut away the outside to make it more lacey looking. Flowers from my stash and of course, some Silver Stickles. I just printed the words myself.  I used my lovely Copics to colour the image  :)

Side view to show the dimension.

Hope you enjoyed your visit  :)   please leave a comment so I can come visit your blog too  :)

Frosty Tea on Tuesday

Not my tea, did you get excited about a new type of tea?   It's very frosty outside, but beautiful   :)

I was in a hurry, so unfortunately my little snowblower handle got in the photo, but isn't the frost amazing!

This next one is the top of my car  :)  lovely pattern.

Happy Valentines Day everyone, drop in and I'll make you a heart muffin  :)
Hope you all have a LOVEly day!

The book I'm looking at this morning is one of my Christmas gifts, it's fun to read and the recipes are great~~I love to keep it handy when I'm making my grocery list!

My card for the Crafts and Me Challenge this week.  We were to make a card with a new or 'new to us' image.  This beautiful digi image is Autumn.

I'll be back later this week with two NEW images that I just got.  I love all their digis, but they have some beautiful stamps and lots of other goodies too.

A closer image so you can see the silver Stickles sparkling on her wings.

And my new project this week is a purse....it's in the works, should be done tomorrow and I'll post a photo for you.

Thanks for dropping by and please hop over to Kimmies site for a list of all the bloggers visiting today, they'd love to see you  :)   http://artinredwagons.blogspot.com/

Progress :)

The little bag is done  :)
It has some padding between the brocade outside and satin inner lining,
a little handle and drawstring cord.
Inside the bag is a little rectangle, removable, piece of coroplast--covered with the fabric--that holds the bottom nice and flat.

I'm really pleased about getting this one done.  It's a gift for my good friend who brought me the lovely daffodils!  Her son is terminal with a brain tumour and she brings ME flowers!  We had tea, ate a huge piece of cake each and chatted the day away.

Some more cards made this week--I love doing the faux silk technique with tissue, but this time I used a little napkin.  I separated the napkin to get the top layer off, scrunched it up, then carefully opened it and put it on some cardstock to which I had applied glue.  Each piece has a different coloured cardstock under the napkin and I used 2/3 colours of Glimmer Mist on each one.

I'm still working on my Project Jar, getting the photos picked out and printed.
Another big green garbage bag goes to re-use with unwanted clothes.
There is one more piece of paper in the jar--that comes out tomorrow and then I can put a whole new batch in!
So the list goes on!

I'm so impressed with myself  :)   toot, toot.

Tea on Tuesday and Getting Results from Project Jar

Well, I have some results to show for the Jar thing  :)

But, I'm taking a break with my Cranberry tea while visiting others for tea on Tuesday.

This came from the two ends of my closet---and is going to the re-use center.
I am down to one of these three-drawer containers at either end of my closet--
1 with yarn and 1 with fabric, plus.....1 tub of yarn and 1 tub of fabric.

I am finished with the tissue box cards and currently NOT saving any more boxes.
The two bigger ones on the right are birthday cards and the other are sympathy and thank you cards.

The Picture Wall.
I have drawn out pieces of paper the size of my frames and stuck them on the wall.
I did pick out some photos, but I need to get a few more of the older ones and then
get them all printed and into the frames.

I had to go to town and get thread to do the make-up bag, but now I can get busy and sew it up.

There are three more slips of paper in the jar and
I have already printed up a list of things to do for the next set.
It's a fun way to get jobs done---so far, so good  :)
