Growing Potatoes

Look what I found growing in my cupboard :) I cut the the other two thirds off and decided I'd better cook it up before I lost the whole potato!

So my breakfast consisted of sauted yam and a couple of eggs thrown in. I added a few spices and herbs--cinnamon included, it's one of my favourite spices right now, gets added to everything!

While I'm in the food mode, here is what else is growing on my kitchen table. My Daughter-in-law gave it to me--Amish Friendship Loaf. Saturday is time to bake a couple of loaves.

Makes me want to start some sour dough bread :)

  1. I Love yams/sweet potatoes (never exactly sure of the difference :), your breakfast sounds yummy. Guess what, I had the same thing growing in our potato bin! Ours was a little further gone, I'm thinking I may suspend it over water and keep growing it, did that with our boys when they were young. I bet your friendship loaf will be delice!

  2. Plant that potato!!! You'll have homegrown ones end of summer!! I was going to make sourdough starter today, but got distracted! A neighbor has a "mother" that he's cultivated for 30 years!!! Whoa!!!

  3. That amish starter multiplies like rabbits! My kids LOVE the pumpkin bread I used to make from it. I say "used to" because I had to just let it go. It was like a ball and chain after a while ;)
